It was the biggest business center of Jains and became famous as Dhanpur due to its splendor. This village is of historical importance. Legend has it that the Pandavas spent one year of their exile here. There is a 200 km long tunnel from this village to Sohagpur (Shahdol) in Madhya Pradesh, which is currently closed. Historical statues have been found in the temple located in Dhanpur.
It is located at a distance of 18 km from the district headquarters.Among these, a statue of Bhasmasur of Jain art was found during MNREGA work. In front of this is the Rishabhdev pond, which is dedicated to the first Tirthankara of Jainism. Cunningham has also mentioned the Dhanpur temple in his archaeological survey book. It is one of the main temples of the district.
