This is a Kalchuri period Shiva temple built in the 12th century. In the month of Sawan, Shiva devotees come here on foot to offer Narmada water. Johila river originates from a pond here. Johila is considered a cursed river. It is believed that due to Johila, Narmada ji and Son could not get married.
Jaleshwar temple is situated 17 km from the district headquarters.Flowers named Gul Bakawali are planted all around the banks of this pond. The border of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh meets here. This is the main center of Tantric Sadhana. There used to be a forest of Baheda here in ancient times. Even now, a large number of Baheda trees are found in the forest here. After flowing 289 km, Johila river meets the Son river at Dashrath Ghat near Bandhavgarh.
