where the Maa Kali temple was built by Pendra Zamindar. During the excavation at this place, an ancient idol of Kali Mata was found, which the Pendra Zamindar brought with him to the fort located in Pendra. It is believed that after bringing the idol to Pendra, the Zamindar had a dream that this idol should be installed back in Kariam. After this, a replica of this idol was made by him and installed in Kariam, which is still present in the ashram.
Kariam Ashram is situated on the main road going to Bilaspur at a distance of 27 km from the district headquarters. At this place, in 1974, an ashram was built by Shri Shri 1008 Shri Sadanand Maharaj Paramhans Ji. Here, a self-manifested idol of Shri Ganesh Ji appeared under a mango tree, due to which this village was named Kariam.
