About The Samudlai
There is a big natural pond here. Its depth is very high. The water tastes salty. People believe that this pond is connected to the sea and water comes from the sea. According to some local people, it was dug by Bhima during his exile. Some other people believe that this pond was formed due to the fall of a meteorite. According to the belief of the people, bathing in this water relieves skin diseases.
Where The Place?
It is located 50 km from the district headquarters on the Pendra Manendragarh road. People come here from far and wide to take bath. A big fair is held here, there is a check dam on a wild river nearby which is famous as a picnic spot. This is a crater and there are three other such ponds in this area. Villagers believe that seeing the reflection of the moon in these ponds on a moonlit night increases eyesight. This is a unique natural structure. There is hardly any other place like this in Chhattisgarh.
